Principal's Welcome Message
I am honoured, and it is with great pleasure, to join the St. Mary Catholic Secondary School Community and to help lead this great school to authentically live out its motto, “Live, Love, Learn." The school continues to be a beacon of excellence, both inside and outside the classroom, and a shining example of the distinct goodness of a well-delivered Catholic education. St. Mary Catholic Secondary School enjoys a rich tradition dating back to 1970, and though we are now in our third building, our customs, school spirit, and lived Catholic values have moved with us.
My goal is to maintain and enhance the St. Mary Catholic Secondary School’s well-earned reputation for academic excellence and high standards. I am actively encouraging the students to set high goals, and to follow through with hard work in order to achieve them. As well, I intend to fully support our outstanding staff in all of their efforts to provide our students with great learning experiences, both inside and outside of the classroom.
On a personal level, I am a happily married, 44 year old father of four (3 girls, 1 boy), and a parishioner of Regina Mundi Parish. I am a graduate of Cathedral High School, and I attended McGill University in Montreal. It was there that I met my wife, Lesley, who was originally from Halifax, NS. After beginning my teaching career in grade 7 and 8 at Sacred Heart Elementary School, I returned to Cathedral HS where I taught Mathematics and coached basketball for many years. As a Vice-Principal, I served at Cathedral High School for 3 years before having the great pleasure of fulfilling the same role at St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School. In September 2018, I was honoured to be entrusted with the role of Principal at St. Mary Catholic Secondary School. I am so proud to be a part of this community.
I pray that 2018/2019 will be a great year for the community of St. Mary Catholic Secondary School. Thank you for visiting our school website. Please consider connecting with us on Twitter at @stmacss. Thank you for trusting us with the Catholic education of your children. We want for your children exactly what you want for them.
